چکیده

Dental age estimation is very important for individual identification in criminal and civil forensic investigations. One of the methods studying related changes pulp volume teeth. The objective current study was to estimate dental from five different categories teeth a Peruvian sample using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Retrospective CBCT records 231 patients [females (134), males (97), age: 12-60 years] were included study, categorized into groups (12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 years older). teeth(upper canines, left upper central incisors, first molars, lower premolars, molars) analyzed Romexis® 5.3.3.5 software each patient. There reduction right canine with age. lowest people aged over. Linear regression analysis chronological showed coefficient determination 30%, suggesting weak correlation. A correlation between derived. But, robust large homogenous future may establish reliable equation.

Assessing the Prevalence of Pulp Stones by Cone Beam Computed Tomography in a Population in North of Iran

Background and purpose: Pulp stones are calcified masses in the pulp chamber or root canals. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) can identify crown and root anatomy and also detect calcifications which may help to achieve a better diagnosis. The goal of this study was to determine the frequency of pulp stones in CBCT images. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, 500 CBCT image...

Age Estimation Using Pulp Chamber Volume of First Molars from Cone Beam Computed Tomography Images in Indian Population

The present study established amathematical model for age estimation among the Indian population using the pulp chamber volume of first maxillary and mandibular molars with the use of CBCT images, and assessed the mathematical equation for age estimation. CBCT images of 564 maxillary first molars and 487 mandibular first molars were collected from 340 individuals to assess the mathematical mode...

Anatomic variations of sphenoid sinus from Cone Beam Computed Tomography images in the Iranian population

Aims: Sphenoid sinus is one of the most inaccessible paranasal sinus, and is closely correlated to many vascular and neural structures. Anatomic variation of the sphenoid sinus can complicate surgery in this area. The aim of the present investigation was to define the sphenoid sinus variations and the relevant structures using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: This cross-sectiona...

Age estimation in an Indian population using pulp/tooth volume ratio of mandibular canines obtained from cone beam computed tomography.

The present study assessed the suitability of pulp/tooth volume ratio of mandibular canines for age prediction in an Indian population. Volumetric reconstruction of scanned images of mandibular canines from 140 individuals (aged ten - 70 years), using computed tomography was used to measure pulp and tooth volumes. Age calculated using a formula reported earlier for a Belgian sample, resulted in...

Prevalence of Idiopathic Osteosclerosis on Cone Beam Computed Tomography Images

Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the prevalence of idiopathic osteosclerosis on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of patients. Methods: In this descriptive, cross-sectional study, 240 CBCT scans of patients (125 women, 115 men) referred to a private oral and maxillofacial radiology clinic in Tehran in 2013 were selected and evaluated. Presence of idiopathic osteosc...
